Christmas Collection Poem by Daniel Cobb

CHRISTMAS:
'SNOWFLAKE'S SONG'
What I'm about to tell you breaks my heart;
I'm the one who let it all fall apart.
Please be patient - this is hard for me;
I'll explain everything eventually.
I know this might sound kind of strange,
But things weren't supposed to be this way!
Dreams and wishes can come true, if only you believe,
But what can stop the kind of faith we have all received?

Well, someone tried to end it,
Who never even cared a bit!
I don't see what we're fighting for;
And I just can't stand it anymore!
If only he’d change;
That would be something strange!
I've got so much to say,
But I doubt he'll see it my way!

I wish you would teach him a lesson;
Greed kept us guessing.
Now class is back in session,
And he'd better start confessing
I can't stand the way he does it, although he knows it isn't right,
But he just goes right on,
Like he's done nothing wrong,
And we don't even have the courage to stand and fight!

I just wanna see your face;
This world's such a cold place.
I wish I could do something,
But I only know one thing.
All of my hopes and dreams have died;
All my tears have been cried.
It's just so hard to survive,
And keep faith alive.

It's better to give than receive;
But he stole the hope and happiness
That we have given ever since
Santa came and taught us to believe.
This emotion's getting stronger;
I'm not waiting any longer!
I'm not getting any younger,
With all this pressure I'm under!

About to give up, I'm down on my knees,
Praying for a miracle, begging, please…
Could a dream become a reality?
Could a wish come true just for me?
Or was it just
A foolish child's fantasy?
I've given my best shot. I've given all I've got;
Still, something isn't right! Will it ever be?


'CANDY CANE'
It's plain to see
That you love me.
I can feel the warm glow
Some people never know.
On this Christmas Eve,
Wishing upon a star,
I'm trying to believe;
Heaven seems so far.

The lights are lovely;
The tree is tremendous.
The presents are pretty;
The snow is stupendous.
Most of all, what I want to do
Is be with you.
That's the reason for the season;
I know it's true.

Not the brightest diamonds,
Or the reddest rose,
Could ever compare to
You holding me close.
A heart is not too hard to break;
Everyone's special - just like a snowflake.
Looks like you're the only gift
That can bring my heart and soul a lift.

You turn to me - give me a glare;
Break my heart with an ice-cold stare.
Maybe you can make my wish come true,
Cuz all I want this year is you.
Christmas only comes once a year;
Time to be with ones we hold dear.
Hold me close in your arms once more;
We're in love! What are you waiting for?


'WINTER WONDERLAND'
Listen to lovers laugh as tears fall down.
Make a wish and come to Christmas Town.
Snowflakes softly spiral down as the sunlight sings,
Drifting down with wonder, alighting on angels' wings.

I will always remember how we fell in the snow
That cold, dark night in December so very long ago.
There's a present from me to you hidden on the tree;
I put it there to show you just how much you mean to me.

We stayed up all night long - sat by the fireside;
We looked in each other's eyes as the embers died.
Now I'm getting closer to you than I ever thought I might;
You're a candle in my window on a cold, dark winter's night.5

Looking at the lights far below,
Don't you just love they way they glow?
Standing in the snow - letting the breeze blow,
I know that you won’t let me go.


'NAUGHTY OR NICE? '
It's my favorite time of year;
I'm so happy that you're here!
So meet me by the mistletoe;
I'm never gonna let you go!

Trick or treat? You're so sweet!
You could make my life complete!
Sugar? Spice? Naughty or nice?
Deep blue eyes as cold as ice!

When I look into your eyes,
I see the stars. I see the sunrise.
Whisper sweet things in my ear;
Tell me there's nothing to fear.

How many times have I told you?
I'd give up heaven just to hold you!
A part of me lives on in you;
Deep down, you know it's true.
