Compensation For The Injury Poem by Rajendran Muthiah

Compensation For The Injury

My soul-mate, my wife
is talkative by nature
but sinks into silence
at times when I ask
thought-provoking questions.

She told me once to drive
our car to the temples afar.
"If any wanton dog hits the car,
gets some injuries and claims
a huge compensation
at the Gangaroo court,
will you get some lakhs
from your liberal father? "
She didn't give me answer
but turned her face
and fell into silence.
