Confusion Poem by V. T. Bullock

Confusion

I miss you like the dessert misses the rain
I miss you like day misses night
I need you like a rainbow needs a storm
I need you like the night needs the stars
I belong with you like a bird belongs in the wind
I belong with you like a bee belongs with flowers

I hate you like fire hates water
I despise you like life despises death
I lost you like a needle lost in a hay stack

But...
The dessert does see the rain eventually
Day sees night during an eclipse
Rainbows appear without storms
There have been starless nights
Birds fly without the wind
Bees and flowers don't belong together, they need each other

Fire would be vicious and uncontrolled without water
All things must come to an end
The needle is eventually found

Contradictory? Yes.
Does life make sense? No.
Confusion surrounds us.
