Shining as a lantern
Against the shimm`ring stars
Beautiful in splendour
With Venus and with Mars
She glides across the heavens
Beneath a starlit dome
A jewel in the universe
This place which is our home
And on her lovely aspect
Shines bright the dazzling sun
Whose benediction granted
The life that had begun
Her verdant land then nurtured
Her seas thus torn apart
All living things created -
For each a beating heart
How lovely is this planet
This piece of rock in space
A haven for all creatures
Our beauteous dwelling place
This earth so precious to us all, , many just don`t care enough about it, .nice poem Val
Between Venus and Mars, how our beautiful Earth stays in space as the only haven (so far) for human beings, spinning round and round! Beautiful poem with the imagery, bright and vivid!
I love how your mind's eye sees in explosive pictures the order of things, the presentation of ideas, etc. AND how you are able to find the perfect words to beautifully describe what you have seen within. Thank you.
I echo the comments from the other poets. I did one on Earth but not in this way Val. Once again you produced a smashing poem, well done.
A fine description of our opal of antiquity. Lovely write. Have you read my poem 'There's an oasis in the dessert'?
What a beautiful description and creative poem you wrote about our Mother Earth! This is amazing, and hopefully, man will not tear it apart and wreck our gift as it surely seems to be. Love this poem. Excellent write..
This poem has not been translated into any other language yet.
I would like to translate this poem
nice write, romantic ideal, isn't it a pity so many seem intent on destroying it.
