Egoism Poem by Bireswar Halder

Egoism

Please open the door
I am now weak, all too weak
I am tired searching you everywhere.
I desperately long to see your face
Everything, all grief and pain will fade
Once we are locked in a sweet embrace
Egoism - a barrier of strong wall
Made a long distance of us to fall
Like a tributary of a river
Diverging while flowing to the sea.

Egoism has spoilt our colourful days
Of the youth - when a couple always plays.
All dreams and hope of life are lost
Two lives are in ruins

Please open the door
Keep your vanity and pride to rest
Let me accept you again as my bride
Let us start a life our destiny longs for
For the last days against all strife.

Let`s forget everything as nightmare
Let`s enjoy life with love and care
Though hair grey or we older
Let`s be jubilant again
Please open the door.

As you have very rightly pointed out, it is our egotism that restrains us and keep up en caged within ourselves. If we can dissolve our egotism in any relationship, that relationship is bound to bloom and blossom. An excellent poem with a lot of insight.
