Forgetting But Not Forgotten Poem by Rani Turton

Forgetting But Not Forgotten

Rating: 5.0

Trite phrases galore
Memory plays tricks with time
Mirages that with the years
Made believe what was unreal.

If I had thought I would have lived so long
Or come to this sad sorry pass
I guess I would have said-pass
But time trickled on
Like sand in the hourglass

There's a perpetual reason to go through the years
Amazing as it may well seem
Some think its destiny
And others a form of being free

And here in the midst of modernity
What is the belief that keeps people scurrying
Jumping running sprinting panting

Living lives that build and build
Mushroom clouds, and you and me and them
And women free and unfree
Walls that are higher and higher

Time, pass me by please
Leave me against this old stone wall
Just leave me be.

time is still on its wheel own way our raves up chases after the wild stream mirrage is still ahead when beguiled memory fluffs away as the sands of time and we are to tune our years as when attuned.............excellent flow of eloquence that reasons truth, ingeniously true, well penned,10+, thanks for sharing

You are right, Rani. Why do we run and run like hamsters on a wheel. We get nowhere. We should take time and enjoy where we are. We know it - so why don't we do it! ? Well said. Fx

meditative write Rani.. either you walk close your eyes as nothing bothers you or walk straight head high fight win, lose and learn............it is difficult to forget and walk in between that is mind-human but wisdom notifies it is wise to forget... insightful one, a soothing comfort 10 Rema
