You girls are waiting for someone to love
And I'm writing my novel
And I'm trying to hold in what's left of my youth
That's the complete truth
Just grappling with life now

You girls I'm sure want everything to be sugar and daisies
And I'm just dreaming of being a legend in my time
While scaling the mountain from being a child to an adult
You girls want to be something special for your times
Just like I am with mine

You girls are believing in me
Even though times aren't the same anymore
And that my youth has passed
