Hospitality
- - - - - - - - - -
It was a fine day
Early in winter
And she was in good humor
She looked upon life
As an occasion to feed people fairer
Now and then she threw
Luncheon and dinner-parties
To kin and kith and strangers
Seen always in high spirits
While entertaining guests
With proper lavishness
Neat and cheerful was her house
Gay with flowers
The house looked bright and pretty
The food was well cooked
Pleasant were the meals and served good
With full of banter, wit and glutton
Guests gathered in her place
For a barbecue and luncheon
'A very nice party indeed',
One of her guests said
'Do you think the food was good? '
Yes, the food was finger licking
And the company uplifting, I said
'But why does she give such banquet
She finds them amusing and pleasing
Simple and poor old lady is living alone
And it pleases her to ask us to luncheon'
Her heart is an open door
With arms wide open
She built her heart a lordly pleasure-house
Wherein wished all her guests to dine
'Trust me, in bliss I spend my hours
While serving you luncheon or dinner'
She said, when asked the reason of serving us
Such was her hospitality
Though she is no more with us
It is a pleasure having such ladies around! Some find happiness in making others happy! Such people make their life happy and others' life too! A great tribute to a lady of great hospitality! Enjoyed!
Hospitality of a lonely lady who is no more, a nice gratitude..........10
Early winter with fine day is memorable with suitable poetry. Guests gathers in a place for trust and bliss in all around. She describes the reason of serving, the hospitality. Wonderfully penned and nicely presented story.
