I Felt Shame Poem by Mehta Hasmukh Amathaal

I Felt Shame

Rating: 5.0

I tried to hide feelings
Internally it was killing
It was pure lust
Enough to breach her trust

I put down head
And did not allow her to read
Even by chance to guess
It was really reflected on face

I developed cold feet
She had come to greet
With honest desire to congratulate
On my success and wanted to indicate

I could sense about her wish
I allowed her to speak and finish
“We should marry now” she whispered
I was air born when she really offered

What could have happened if Ii had gone ahead?
Violated her modesty again wish and made her dead
Thank god I was spared from agony and bad name
She was really good companion and I felt shame
