“I've never transplanted a sapling”
they said believing their feet like the roots
was bound to the ground, and inseparable from the dirt
“then let's do so together”
“I've never before handled a shovel”
they said believing their head like the earth
was impenetrable and incapable of anything with worth
“then let us do so together”
“I've not before planted a tree”
they said believing themselves like the tree
was uprooted, wounded and incapable of peace
“then let us do so together”
“I've not before seen such a place”
they said believing themselves like the plant
was growing, nurtured and intertwined with a chance
“then let's enjoy together”
“I'd not before transplanted a sapling”
they said believing themselves like the tree
was grown and sheltering to the children beneath
