Isis and Orisis,
brother and sister
with the same mother,
married to each other.
Isis would be
her own children's aunt
and Osiris an uncle to them.
The children, though sisters and brothers,
would be cousins, too, to each other.
Auntie Mum and Uncle Dad
in our society would be considered bad
and against the law.
But was this a flaw
in THEIR time?
You really had a day of struggling with dilemmae didn't you... from sunshine to interbreeding.... all perfectly penned. t x
We spend to much time worrying about right and wrong, and which is any way.Take care Roy
Times have changed! but this a skillfully placed question I say!
you contain an unmatchable use of words, i hope you continue to write poetry lovely -Hawk
I found this poem interesting and just a little bit delightful. Yes, we live in a very different time.
When I narrated the story of Isis and Osiris in my children's dance performance a couple of years ago, I explained the 'relationship' between them by saying - but of course, they were gods, so it was alright. This is a neat, quirky poem written in your inimitable style Fran. One of those 'teasers' that are difficult to explain, even when you sort of know the answer. Clever penning. love, Allie ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

I would like to translate this poem
Francesca (lovely name) , Isis & Osiris... It was simply a way to keep nobility in the family. Others did it too...and ended up breeding idiots for lack of new blood. Nice poem (I like most things Egyptian) Peace, Ray
