Jive Poetry And The Poet Authorities Poem by Ted Sheridan

Jive Poetry And The Poet Authorities

Rating: 5.0

Jive crap
That’s all this life is
Just some jive Asses attempt
at some more jive ass poetry
It means nothing unless you're stoned
and you are one of those people
who wake up everyday
to find yourself
sleeping with cockroaches and in filth
Lying in a bed of empty words
that cometogether
like a high speed Interstate highway car wreck
involving two SUVs and a 1972 Pinto
fully loaded with twelve boat people
trying to enter the country undetected
by the Poet authorities___
but then.....no matter....
you're dead already with your Jive crap
That's all this life is....
more Jive crap and some more heaped on top of that.....

'That's what misery is'. I wonder what Stevens would have thought of this? Probably bought you a beer and said ' yip, this is how it is Ted, you hopeless old romantic in cynic's clothing'. It's all about angles isn't it, whether you live in the woods (why thank you for the bear!) in a log cabin by the Green River, in a high rise, or a condo on the coast, or a slushy Igloo praying for the global cooling that's Up Around The Bend (you do the guitar breaks sir) . And there's no point in asking Have You Ever Seen The Rain is there? Yeah, there was certainly a strange lunar satellite in the ascendant when this one poured out of the bowl. But sometimes this is the way the world comes at us, and you caught that world very well Mr. Fine read sir. jim
