Light House Poem by Nilufer Dursun

Light House

Rating: 5.0

Mounted by putting stone on stone
In order not to be wrecked the ships on the rocks
A shining projector at the top
Light house started the life in this way

The house of lonelinessbuilt by stones
Night and day
Around flying sea gulls
Coming and goin waves uselessly
Ships, small boats, boats
In the ancient loneliness
It all ways watched

When the day to dawn, at midnights
On the extension of a land towards the sea
What was the light house waiting for
Either was it anybody from faraways
Or was it waving goodbye to a voyager

Under the stones unsolved puzzles
Neither anyone explained the situvation
Nor, meet someone who knows!
In the 'ancient loneliness'
Light house went on living in this way

The house of lonelinessbuilt by stones Night and day Around flying sea gulls Coming and goin waves uselessly Ships, small boats, boats In the ancient loneliness It all ways watched The light house has become a symbol of lonliness and ancientness in this poem. The imagery seems to be very real. Its nice to read a poem by a turkish poet. thanks for the translation, Nilufer. I also have a poem with the same title on my page and I would like you to read it. I hope you will like it. Best Wishes Naseer
