Mission Poem by Bireswar Halder

Mission

Do not ask for the moon, it`s for nature alone
Be human, ask for the tree - that`s human
Live within human means, ask what befits you
Or else life will be shorn of dreams, it`ll be tears.

Do not sully the earth with foul language
Or bruise me with an iron heart
When you take on the world as storms
For I am human, I`m bound by human laws.

Do not chase down neighbours` cornucopia
Try to tread an austere life and rectitude
Peace only abides in simplicity
It`s the wanton greed that blots a peaceful mind.

Erase out your limitless demands,
Do not drive me to a false path of illusion
Where the devil will dance on my chaste image
And I`ll see the dark sun seeking my blind eyes.

My dear, are you happy with all wealth?
Can you hope to sleep alone peacefully?
What the tainted affluence may offer us?
Only remorse and cries for not being human.

Erase out your limitless demands, Do not drive me to a false path of illusion. Beautiful realization. Nicely penned.
