Mourning Poem by Bireswar Halder

Mourning

Tears rolling, you were moving in silence
You did not hear my earnest words
With due love you consoled and promised
For an early return with honey from the jungles.
A long wait for you brought no results.

Perhaps cannot come back again
And don't know how long I will accept rebuffs
It is so hard to remain chaste
Tigers in the society are more furious than jungles
Every moment they prowl foe prey

I cannot weep loudly
I cannot express my secret grudge
It breaks heart to bear separation in this age
None I find reliable to share my grievances.
Life is so miserable
Never did it dawn on me before

Its very difficult to perform obsequies
Nor I can follow customs of widow's
People start whispering all around
Your sweet memories only haunt me
Its long way I am to go alone.
How, I do not know…
