My Housekeeper Poem by Randy McClave

My Housekeeper

I once had myself a housekeeper
She kept my house spick and span,
She was a really good organizer and sweeper
For this one tired bachelor man.
I worked eighty hours every week
And I always worked every shift,
So, a cleaning woman I did desperately did seek
And the woman I found was a single man's greatest gift.
She did my laundry and she cleaned my floors
And she did my dirty dishes as well,
She organized all of my closets and my drawers
She took care of the house where I did dwell.
To my house I then gave her a key
So, she could enter in when I was tired and sleeping,
It brought her joy and some what of glee
To be washing my dishes and sweeping.
She always did a great job housekeeping
And I always paid her wages every Saturday,
She'd we working hard while I'd be sleeping
She earned every dollar of her pay.
Then her and I became more than just friends
And then we both decided to date,
I thought that I was given some great dividends
Now she stayed at my house and always slept in late.
She stopped cleaning my home and doing my dishes
And she told me now she wasn't my maid,
She didn't care for any of my wants or wishes
But, still every Saturday she still demanded to be paid.
I once had myself a very hard working lady of the house
She kept my home always swept and clean,
But, when she decided she wanted to be my spouse
I fired her, and I bought myself a robotic sweeping machine.
