Time tinkers with the rolling chocolate covered night
Invisible ghosts playing in the silvery moonlight
Flowers shut their doors for business another day
Bees sleeping busily waiting for their turn to play
On the horizon statuous gum trees brush the velvet night sky
Painting the strobing pin-light stars up above them high
It's the dream time of children tucked away in their beds
Filled with colourful imagination synapsing in their heads
Nocturnal habits are secretly gathering up their daily quota
Caring about the other side of the worlds troubles not one iota
Creatures stirring deep in shadows of the darkness coming alive
Nature offers up its midnight bounty as the nightlife thrives
Birds cloaked in nests towering high above notice it all
Sleeping with one eye open and necks craned up tall
For although the stillness of the night deceives those blind
There are foregoing creatures with purposes not so kind
The mighty and meek all pay the ultimate toll, fatal when unaware
The dark is light to those who steal away hidden from a dozing stare
Life is found, preserved and lost, all in the blink of a nights passing
That's the way it has been for eons and so should it be, everlasting…
