Old Friend Poem by Mike Sudak

Old Friend

Hello there old friend, how long has it been?
Let us pull up a chair and remember again.
When our lives were once whole
All the time that we stole
Knowing it would never last...

When our hearts were locked, they beat as one
What wonderful, pure, true songs were sung
Both of us knew it had to crash
The cinders of our love crumbled into ash
And yet, we are drawn back together...

Remember that time, down by the old lake?
With the long winding roads that we would take
The rustling of the leaves
The two of us at ease
With the path of our road clear-cut...

Yes, we were lost in each other’s arms
Kept safe from the hardships of life’s harms
The life the world showed us
We knew what true love was
And now, this life has let us know it again...
