On The Wing Poem by Ben Gieske

On The Wing

Rating: 5.0

Flight like the dragonflies,
To flit like the moths
Around the camp fires,
Such dreams they sought,

Not just to join the wind airborne
But glide with a dream,
Swifter than a canoe down a stream,
Faster than the speed of sound.

Humans no sooner began to sing
Like the birds they saw
When they too wanted wings
To fly with the songs they sung.

The birds still sing
And fly with song.
Man still dreams
To fly to Mars.
