Self Rightous Poem by T.James Becker

Self Rightous

Rating: 5.0

In each of us lives darkness hiding from the light
Evil that lives inside waiting for the night
Blocking out our senses filling up our minds
Taking us out of control making us so blind

This darkness in existence is called by many names
Lust, greed, hatred and then there's sweet revenge
Then there is the worst of all self righteous is it's name
Judging others looks and sins as we hide our shame

The next time she walks along in her tattered dress
Or him with his shaven head and tattoos on his chest
Try to think what situation brought them to this spot
And maybe they're just happy with everything they got.

This is a good sentiment and I thoroughly agree with it, especially the first two lines. That's the key - self-knowledge to save us from self-righteousness.
