Some People Are Like Trees Poem by Ben Gieske

Some People Are Like Trees

Rating: 2.6

Some people are like trees
or so it seems
if you get what I mean.

Some are strong as an oak.
Some live as long as redwoods
bending with the wind.
Some like sugar maples
snap with a gust of wind.

A few people are like some other trees.
Think about the crab apple tree
and you will see what I mean.

Some weep like a willow;
Some all peaches and cream.
Then there are the pear, apple, prune and plum.

A prune is just a plum.
What’s a fig without a leaf?
Some need that fig leaf to cover their blushing cheeks.
Some choose the elm.
No need to go to extremes.
Of that I wouldn’t dream
even though I know some people are like some other trees.

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

Great metaphors and smart comparisons... human nature varies the way threes' genera... But what would be the world like if all trees would be the same?
