Taken Away Poem by Dan Brown

Taken Away

First, full, flush of blossoming youth,
a love to rival the Courts.
Solidity and warmth to wash away
the unwelcome, rational thoughts.

White and bare; the stark, naked truth,
Untainted but not to be seen.
Days of headscratching, wondering
what a love like this must mean.

He misses his boy; still hears his cry
and remembers him every night.
Translucent tears fall from his eye,
as he moves to turn off the light.

This thing we take for granted,
but when there's distance in the way.
We come to know how much it hurts
to have it taken away.
