Tender The Flame. Poem by Fay Slimm

Tender The Flame.

Rating: 5.0

The flicker of our fragile fire
Burns low.

No bright flaming lights
Shoot out........
As before.

Sparks need fresh,
Airy breezes, .......
Dancing below.

Where lies life lives hope
That hot flames.........
Kindle more.

Words flowed like lava once
From our...............
New furnace.

Fierce was the heat
That warmed........
Distant plight.

Fire almost dies when,
Doused wet.........
With neglect.

Before our night falls,
Ignite more..........
Our tender lovelight.

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

Wonderful words of wisdom with amazing bitter/sweet imagery. The last stanza sets the poem alight! 10 Karin Anderson

When first lit the room is cold, the fire it burns ferocious after a while, it burns more steadily, not so precocious for many years, the room is warm, a tender loving glow then the embers burn away, then its time to go

Each stanza is a little piece of the puzzle that shouldn't be a puzzle to any of us. The analogy to fire and flame and spark is so rich and it lends such meaning to the message. Talk about identifying with this, I for one.... Hxx
