My name is Sam the harbour seal.
I have always loved the feel,
Of water rushing to another place,
And rays of sunshine on my face.
On summer days I long to explore,
The world far beyond my shore,
And dream that I could stand,
With sturdy legs upon the land.
Then one day, into my habitat,
Came two men called Andy and Matt.
They made me feel quite adored,
And let me on their pointed board.
I was ready to take any gamble,
To do more on this coast of Amble.
Despite being only a pup,
I showed no fear and slid on up.
They thought it was very brave,
For a baby seal to surf a wave,
And were proud to be my guides,
On countless awesome rides.
Once, I gave my best,
High upon a pearly crest.
I flew off it's curling lip,
Ending with a forward flip.
I doubt you've seen a seal dare,
Fly like I did through the air.
But now it's time for me to go,
My friends await another show.
Oh, a very inviting description of the feats of a baby seal! Seals perform such awesome feats! Stephen, you make the animal world so palpable with your exuberant poetry! I award full marks for you!
