The pen is mightier than the sword,
We have heard the poets say;
The major changes man has wrought
Seem to go the other way.
Long years ago, with noble words,
We declared our country free;
The power of the sword is how
Our freedom came to be.
Try to remember Gettsburg,
Iwo Jima, or Bataan;
The answers for those did not come
From a wordy magic wand.
And remember 'Days of Infamy',
Flanders Field and 911;
The answers for those problems came
By the sword, or by the gun.
The sword creates the changes made,
For the good, or for the bad;
The pen may spark the urge to change-
'Tis true, so true-but sad.

real truth in this, the pen leads us to take up the sword. another 10 joe.
I really like this poem and the thought in it, the pen can map and plan but it takes far more to complete the deed. so well written.
Next time I board a hostile ship I will wield a pen. I will let you know how it turns out. Very provocative, great writing.
It certainly seems that way Joseph - if poets ruled the world how different it would be!

Joseph Anderson.... stanzate Long years ago, with noble words, We declared our country free; The power of the sword is how Our freedom came to be. Very brave powerful stanza..! May be you're the oldest poet in our group and the wisest with your experience in life... To be many places with your will Fighting to protect your country and your life You well understood What meant war... What meant without Some never read... Thus... they need to face innocents' swords...! Armenians had pen... but no swords Thus... they were genocided one by one Since millennium and more...and till now...! If you have pen without sword No one will have fear from your eyes...! Thus you should carry a pen with you left and sword must stay on your right Thus...You protect your pen and your light...!
