Transition Of Rains! Poem by Rajendran Muthiah

Transition Of Rains!

No Transition of Rains!
Winter whacks and wraps Chennai.
Scarce water scares us!
The Kaveri river was in spate
but water-management failed
to save the source of life
in rain-fed tanks and lakes.

The floods breached the dams
and emptied in the estuaries
and flowed into the Bengal sea.
Wearing sweaters in shearing cold,
the people in the suburbs of Chennai
look above for darker clouds
and turn to east for the gusting guests
which whirl and swirl in the bay
and change their routes to cheat us.
