A Void Standing Poem by RoseAnn V. Shawiak

A Void Standing

Severing parts of our lives from not only our
consciousness, but our lives too, a void now
standing without our minds.

Not knowing what to do next or what's expected
of us as we continue to live and breathe, yet
loneliness, abandonment and tears are left us.

They are the only gifts we're left with, gather-
ed into memories that we take out and go through
as we try and make sense of death.

Wondering throughout the years, especially when
it happens to someone close to us, we tend to
reminisce even more as we age.

Coming upon our own sunsetical horizon and shore,
looking more and more concrete as each year passes
us by.
