An Ode To A Butterfly
You delicate darling
miracle of grace
dancing damsel
arresting all the eyes
you reel on wings
of rainbow colour
brashly coquetting
on every flower
wisp of loveliness,
floating like a dream
fluttering colours
making every eye agleam
Oh, matchless glory
heaven sent fairy
flitting amid emerald greens
hovering under sapphire skies
Why are you in such hurry?
eluding our gaze,
why sneak to a lone territory?
are you rushing to meet your maids
before they shut their dewy eyes?
frail is your frame
short is your sojourn
yet how glorious is your life
casting spells of delight in every eye.
Their life, I'm afraid does not last too long A few days of pleasure and they'll be gone Your poem will keep them long in my heart Like a lilting symphony from Mozart Thanks Valsa
Your poem is as beautiful as the picture, Valsa. I love the line why are you in such a hurry? Exactly! One wants to take a good look, but off they flit. This weekend I took a bunch of city kids on a nature walk and how I enjoyed their awe and excitement in seeing butterflies.
