Down With Terrorism Poem by Valsa George

Down With Terrorism

Rating: 5.0

Warm blood spilled over the streets of Paris
Twin towers raced down in the US
School children massacred in Peshawar
Parliament building attacked in India

All through the globe, seismic waves of terror
Sweep across… effacing life, love and dreams
Violence masquerading as love of God
Leaving searing gashes in men's psyche

Pale faced grimaces of death as bombs explode
Groans of pain as bullets whizz past
Moving ‘corpses' with bloodied bodies and bruised minds
Exodus of men who flee for life as terror strikes

Trudging through the valley of despair
They look for mercies to descend
Raw flesh and warm gore excite
The ones who exult in irrational homicide

Every day we read the chronicle of war
With modest tools, the Neanderthal men fought
Now men themselves turn as weapons
And explode like bombs killing thousands

Where shall we find a bastion
From this rabid pack of wolves?

From the quagmire of terror, we need an escape
Will we see a haven where Christians, Hindus and Muslims
The Blacks and the Whites, Aryans and Jews
Hold hands together and proclaim aloud
'We are one, we are a single clan'
Let it be writ on every wall and billboard

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This poem was written in response to Dr.Fabrizio Frosini's call to poets to write on the topic Poetry Against Terrorism to be turned into an e-book.

My poem now has greater relevance in the context of the recent terrorist attacks on India in the New Year. After the Mumbai attacks of 2008, terror has once more struck our country at Pathankot air base in Punjab, killing many. Terrorists are still suspected to be hiding and now counter terror sweep is going on! Terrorism has become the greatest affront to humanity. Let us together denounce this devilish menace!

Exploiting people by brainwashing them and turning them into live bombs - that is terrorism.. There is no God for terroirism... We stand at a time of our human existence when our civilisation is threatened most by these barbarous and cowardly acts carried out in the name of some kind of 'ideology'... Yes, we must stand strong, and change the world, uproot the centre of this malice.. A wonderful poem Valsa ma'm.. May we all find peace and a better world..

Part...1 The terrorism held in past like Warm blood spilled over the streets of Paris / Twin towers raced down in the US / School children massacred in Peshawar / Parliament building attacked in India was too heart rendering and furious. Terrorists take away the peace from society. You have rightly said that terrorism has become the greatest affront to humanity. We should denounce this devilish menace! A brilliant poem on terrorism is touchingly executed. Thank

Valsa, in light of more recent terror attacks in Belgium, I've posted your poem on the Poetry Against Terror Facebook page with a link to this site as well. Thanks for sharing your poetry. My heart goes out to all the victims of terrorism and I hope for a day when we can be one. Down with terrorism.

Valsa-Amen, Amen for your profoundly truthful statements. We are in a terrible time of this worlds history.True, here in America. Can we ever make truth and right prevail? One universal God is sorely needed.A strong, needed reminder of this crisis
