Father's Day

Father's Day,
Two simple words,
Joy to many,
Pain to many more.

A reminder of hugs missed,
Of kind words to encourage,
And of reprimands escaped,
But mainly of a best friend lost.

Poet's Notes about The Poem

Is a response to the heartache I feel each year in the 19 years since my dad died on hearing everyone discussing Father's Day.
