Haunted House Poem by Rishi Menon

Haunted House

In a place not too far from here
there was an old abandoned house
it was big and majestic to view
free from insects and louse

People came and people went
The house was happy as can be
Then some kids wanting some fun
said 'this house is haunted' cant you see?

This rumor spread like wild fire
and the house was very sad
for that meant it would be alone
this made it feel bad

That remark made by these kids
had ruined its pride and joy
Just because of a false statement
made by a naughty boy

Within no time the whole town knew
and the house was upset, it grew pale
It lost its color and smile
Its walls grew black, carpets grew stale

All it wanted was the warmth of people
To come, live and stay within
For years none came
And its sadness was up to the brim

'Alas' it mourned, 'no one will come'
So he thought and so he cried
Then came a family in need of a house
the endless tears started to dry

within days, the house grew stronger
It regained its joy and its color
For now within its walls he had
A loving family to care for
