Have You Ever Found Him? Poem by Mohabeer Beeharry

Have You Ever Found Him?

Rating: 4.5

Night and day
Your names continue to echo In my heart
And Your image fill my mind's eye.
I seek Theefar and wide,
everywhere
And yet I see thee not,

Still from the serene warmth of the valley's sunlit shadows
The breeze brings a waning strain of your flute.
Tears in my eyes
Sobs choking my heart I loiter in vain,

Near the river
Near the pond
Down the village slope
No one has seen you.

The villagers laugh at my naivety
And ask if I have ever seen the wind,
Or the willow stop crying.

I watch the flowers' ecstatic sways, like possessed
Fanning colours and fragrance.
They too dance to the tunes of your flute,
Naughty! naughty! They say you are.

The will- o- the wisp of the dusky evening sun
The shimmers in the fleeting runs of the ripples on the pond,
That teasing the heart is your favourite pastime.

The enchanting sounds of your flute
And your fleeting fragrance
Caught in the starry spinning of the crazy nights
Are dear memories of rare encounters.

Oh crazy me!
I say to myself
Why do I search for the unsearchable?

If Icannot catch the breeze
Nor the mystic fragrance of the queen of the night
If I cannot stop the ripples from dying on the sunset shores
Nor catch the dance of fleeting shadows on the hills,

How then can I catch the uncatchable,
He who has no frame nor form?

It is my love that gives him form.
The way is not out there
But in here, in my heart
where only I
And him can tread.

This is why the flowers
And the breeze are silent
The villagers and the hills are stunned
For He is your own special and personal experience.
