Hurricane Dorian Poem by Savita Tyagi

Hurricane Dorian

Rating: 5.0

Watching the images of destruction
Caused by Hurricane Dorian,
My heart sinks with horror and sadness.
We humans think of ourselves
As master of our surroundings
Yet falling under the wrath of Nature
We fair no better than ants and cockroaches.

Only thing that makes us stand apart
Is our love and compassion for the
Victims of dire circumstance.
Nature takes its course
Helping the fallen to get back to their feet
Is our recourse.

We have no absolute control over Nature..... though we can tame Nature by treating it with care and reverence. Natural calamities can take a toll on the lives of people and it will plunge us into sorrow and depression. But the unity and compassion expressed for the victims by fellowmen and the resilience shown by the survivors are heartwarming! A fine update of the recent hurricane!

Excellent poem, full humanity and so oftentimes Dorian has gone, the victims are forgotten. My proposal, in the USA and elsewhere, they must build houses from brick. During my travel to the USA, most houses are built from a certain fiber. These houses are cheaper, but they cannot stand the hurricanes. Yhe US Givernment has to pay attention to this and help them with sponsoring brick houses.

Thank you Sylvia. Even though we often watch Natural calamities from a distance still we get affected with Nature’s intense power. It’s benevolence and it’s curses.
