I Just Want To Think Poem by Mohabeer Beeharry

I Just Want To Think

Tears have I
That I wouldgladly shed.

Now and then my heart sinks,
Swallowed by hopelessness.
To think of what man is doing to man!

To think what this world has come to,
A heartless field of killing and tears,
Where guns and bullets have become knives and forks
On man's morning breakfast table!

Where beliefs and religions
That should have been the holy paths to enlightenment,
have stooped to a despicable low, spawning lust for power,
Hypocrisy, greed, ignorance, and death!

Children are born, unwanted souls,
Hungry, bitter, taught to feed on the fruits of other's labour.
No wonder there is trouble in the ether,

And floods, hurricanes, volcanoes and earthquakes
Howl all night and dance the most stomping and weird dances.
Who are they looking for, I wonder?

This world has become a most heartless place.
It stinks.
The Creator gave it to us to embellish.
We make a hell of it!

Lord why then did you bleed on the Cross?
Why then did you spend fourteen long arduous years in the forest?
If it has decided to go to hell,
Then so be it!

Shall I pray for the cruelty to cease?
Andthe sadism!
Shall I pray to be forgiven?
In that beautiful panoply of serene stars above,
Is there still Lord, a place for our unwarranted rampage?
