For three days I stood at the back of my garage
Listening to a black bird singing.
No fear
No terror,
My heart thrilled to a sheer wondrous delight,
A trill of endless exuberance of tyroling
So beautiful,
So exhilarating,
So inspiring!
Like a mountain waterfall of scattered silver sprays.
The joys that was gushing out of this tiny throat
Shaming the sun
And the warm breeze,
The coolness of the village woodlands.
Forgetting the terror that's stalking humanity,
I was completely overwhelmed.
Till...
I saw a man and a woman approaching
Nonchallant, unprotected mouths and noses,
I shivered
My eyes narrowed and I went hot with sweat!
And I instinctively backed into the garage.
But then suddenly I was ashamed of what I did,
An unforgivable insult to my own kind!
A criminal reaction but a brutalizingreality
And a necessity perhaps.
A sad sob of heartbreak stuck in my throat
As the reality of it all came back slowly.
Man has become a nightmare to man!
