Sixty years ago I prayed to be a millionaire,
Sixty years ago once I had an instinctive desire,
Thanks, my dreams have now come true,
Thanks to both, old woman and You,
Smiling on the devalued currencies that I now acquire!
The beauty of wisdom and knowing the difference between wealth and happiness as you smile at your devalued currencies you rejoice at the great wealth of your emotional joy! Great write Akhtar!
A beautiful prayer to god on thanks giving has been so touchingly and incisively executed. I appreciate this poem. Thanks for sharing.
You Sir in your silent desire prove my point we are today much more poorer then sixty years ago when youth was happy with just 300...and could save a tenner every month.. Today despite the high pension they give they say one has to sell one's woman's bangles he gave her sixty years ago when they married This is the whole truth poverty will for ever stay, add on oldies like you and me one may we will jump over the BPL line as we did jump a 5 foot string high jumping at 16
Amazingly humourous write. Cleverly written. Ha ha ha devaluation is everywhere.

Wow, I am smiling big time, how fortune changes with time. Value of currency in those times and now, making millionaire........Philosophically even with such huge amount when body is hugely depreciated how to enjoy will be a big question. Thoughtful poem Janab.10+++
