Monster Poem by Mahfooz Ali

I found a monster last night
As I climbed into my bed.
I heard him breathing
And hoped he was dead.

The monster spoke to me
Making me jump out of my skin.
He wasn’t there to hurt me
My friendship he wanted to win.

I let him crawl up into my bed
And we sat and talked like old friends.
He told me he would protect me
And hoped our friendship never ends.....

and that monster is now my best friend.
