My Motherland Poem by Rekha Mandagere

My Motherland

Rating: 4.6

Favourite haunt of Gods, a haven for all
Hindus, Muslims, Christians dwell
Also Buddhists, Jains, Parsis and Sikhs
Mother of myths and various legends
Land of multi faiths no where found
Each faith with its glorious sound
God is One, but names several
This doctrine runs deep in every mind

Mystic land of saints and savants
Breathing chants of Vedas and Upanishads
To unfold the mysteries of universe’s birth
Bhagavad Gita, a gospel of eternal Truth
The twin epics- Ramayan and Mahabharat
Great repositories of all virtues and vices
Upholding renunciation, service as life’s ideals
Soaking in Truth, purity and serene silence

Cradle of human speech, citadel of culture
Beauty smiles through its arts and sculpture
Its heavenly music in cascading rhythms
Kathak, kuchupudi, Bangra reflecting rich traditions
Dotted with holy shrines, churches, mosques
Built in antique styles fitting home for mystics
Varied cultures, unique rituals and festal airs
Spreading warmth and euphoria in celebrations!

'Cradle of human speech, citadel of culture Beauty smiles through its arts and sculpture Its heavenly music in cascading rhythms' Especially these lines sing to me, in rhythms of times past so clearly felt. 'Dotted with holy shrines, churches, mosques Built in antique styles fitting home for mystics Varied cultures, unique rituals and festal airs' I love the diversity of all these people, pouring out their love, their worship to God. In heaven everywhere voices sing, songs are sung by each individual in love and praise of God. Different genders, voices, songs, but all sparkling with their individual love praise worship of God. I also want to sing of love not differences.

Here in America we feel a reverence for your land of mystic proportions. A brilliant summation of your land and culture. A memorable, worthy poem. I had open heart surgery 5 years ago and my surgeon was from India. You have much to be proud -10

Bharat...is unparallel, so is to say a minimum.Apart from deep love for the country the poetry has a good rhythm and flow.Good patriotic poetry.

India, dense of diversity cultures...Holding differences of religions not make harmony less but harmony feast...The love each other without any barriers, as i for you, you for me, respect your believe and respect what i believe is something beautiful. No religion stand for fighting each other..People can fight to get they want, they can do it but they won get it at the end..but when we love we absorb all thing and beautifies all bonds..like a rope, if use a single thread it easily break, so we need a lot of threads to create strong bond to hold and to make beneficial thing..India is interesting place! _Unwritten Soul
