Never Wishing To Be In The Picture Poem by RoseAnn V. Shawiak

Never Wishing To Be In The Picture

Always standing back, never wishing to be in pictures
of fame and riches, preferring to be in the background,
alone, writing to my heart's content.

Missing the love of my heart, yet knowing that purpose
of his is to love me unconditionally throughout his
life.

An inspirational and valued treasure, I keep cherished
within my heart as well, nothing else matters, fame,
riches, they can all be won and lost over again.

But to have a love like yours and mine is worth more
than all the precious metals and diamonds in the entire
world.

A sacred and holy love that God has given to us both,
a pact with the Divine that nothing can corrupt, it's
totally precious throughout every moment.

We cannot trade this love for all the riches and fame
in the world, because it's worth more than all of it in
my mind and yours, I know.

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

I think every lover who has ever committed him/herself to a beloved is present in this poem. It's like certain poems of Rumi which embrace all of us under the rubric of love. and give us hope that this invisible but palpable emotion of love is always accessible. In your poem, which is both intimate and universal, addressed to one and to all, you are keen to reject worldly things which distract us from essentials.Your expression of modesty, of humility is heart-felt. This poem celebrates the right values!
