Shall I, No More, Contentment Praise Poem by Valerie Dohren

Shall I, No More, Contentment Praise

Rating: 5.0

O how shall I contentment find
Within the shadows of my mind
When all the world has lost its grace
For now it be a darker place -
No more to look upon his face

The days they pass in silent gloom
Here in the confines of this room -
This room in which we laughed and cried
Wherein I ever seek to hide -
This room where I alone abide

And as I look towards the light -
The light that shines beyond the night
I seek to find a brighter land
Where once the beauteous rainbow spanned -
Where once I held his gentle hand

A gentle hand that reached for mine
Outreaching thus to so entwine -
Where now the love that was so true?
The love that he and I once knew –
Full glist’ning as the morning dew

In solitude I watch the dawn
With heart bereft and so forlorn -
An empty sky the light betrays
Where nothing fills these soulful days
Shall I, no more, contentment praise …

Shall I, no more, contentment praise

A very sad poem, one day at a time, one of those days could bring a brighter dawn.

Sadness envelops the emptiness. There also remain many sweet memories to be squeezed from cells of the honeycomb that is the past. Beautiful poem that moves the heart. Thank you.

...in the transparent void you fill in the power of will to go ahead still farther and farther and soon the pathway will come to an end and there the element of sorrow too will die... we are journeying thus for a time span..

Ok, now this truthfully, made the tears fill my eyes, and such a moving, heartfelt poem it is. I've lost many, and the pain that is felt is so heartwretching, esp. when it is your one true love and soulmate. I am so sorry, but I am happy you are still writing poems. It seems to help release some of the pain, I find. And time....will help soften the heartache. Many {{{hugs}}} my friend

Knowing now why this lovely poem was written, it touches my heart. Keep faith, talk to him - the ones we love stay close to us until God reunites us in the world of the spirit.
