Sleep! Poem by Flencirose Basera

Sleep!

'Sleep' my dearest
Why do you trouble me so?
I feel your presence caressing my forehead
Yet my eyelids keep fluttering like I'm facing the wind
Maybe it is so
The invisible wind of my life
That which makes no sound
If I say I feel so rejected by you
Would you begrudge me
Oh sleep I need you dearly
Come and caress my body and make me stiff
Take me to nothingness
Oh better still create a vivid world that you and me know
Where I can have all that I desire and more
But do take away the freakish shows that wake me in sweat
Oh sweet sleep where are you?
Creep silently and take me away
Only when you are gone then will I wander!
