The Kitten And The Crow Poem by Stephen Katona

The Kitten And The Crow

Rating: 5.0

'Ma, I wish I could fly, '
Kitten said with a sigh.

Ma replied, 'By now you should know,
You're a cat not a crow.
Instead of a pair of wings,
You've got too many limbs.
I could stick on a wing or two,
With some carefully placed glue.'

'Ma, I'm tired of the taste of worm,
And the way they wriggle and squirm.
I don't like slippery slugs,
Or crunching bitter bugs.
If only I had a beak like yours,
Instead of these hairy paws.
Being unable to caw,
Is yet another flaw.'

'Son, get off the road, '
Ma frantically crowed.
'That's a dangerous place you've sat,
A metal monster may squish you flat.
You're lucky to have such sharp claws,
And those powerful jaws.
You can climb up tall trees,
And catch food larger than bees.
The fur on your chest,
Will keep warm any nest.
I've no idea how,
You manage to meow.
Be content with who you are,
And stop wandering so far.
Some may think our love taboo,
But I'll always look after you.'

Popped in to poem hunter.. re-read all our poems written by both as a beautiful reminder of our love for writing and rhyme.. and stumbled upon this! Very well written, so descriptive to the last detail and so animated! Nice conversation and quite uplifting to the soul! Nice read! : -)
