The Thinking Man Poem by Ted Sheridan

The Thinking Man

Rating: 5.0

We are the thinking man
We have learned our right shoe
from that of our left; the jacket
buttons in front with the label in back.
We are the thinking man
born of erudite parents,
descendents of tribes;
who once gathered and hunted
across property lines.
Civilized, we now terrorize
our children’s children
with a fear of ours not their unknowns.
We are the thinking man
We are the thinking man.
We are the thinking man.
We repeat ourselves to no end….
We are not thinking men alas;
forsooth we are but pitiful reactionist
to the catalyst of mortal trepidation.
Not thinking men.
Rather men content with ignorance.

Obviously what I wanted to write on seeing the title was that the second two words of the title are mutually exclusive... :) .... but of course, ye thinker, you demonstrate the errors of my presumptions (never made about you) . t x
