This Morning I Saw. Poem by Fay Slimm

This Morning I Saw.

Rating: 5.0

I saw this morning, exulting in the morning light,
A half-grown, half-tame, well-fed blackbird,
Shaking off the rest of night.
At once he took to flight, and seemed to dance his way
Across the open vault of blueing space.
Into the start of his day.

This I like. I was used to robins being very tame in cities but the tameness of blackbirds down here in Devon came as a surprise. (for non-UK readers - Devon is the county next to Cornwall where Fay lives)
