As days depart silent
When this clown ends her show
Some will applaud and some will sneer
No more concerned-though I know
I will not be in everyone's good books
I strive to maintain an equipoise
Of a dispassionate acceptance
When my funeral bells chime
And their notes resonate
In the valley of melancholy
When memories of me fade in every heart
Like the previous night's dream
I hope to leave behind
One single message:
‘Replace your anger by forgiveness
Drown your greed in founts of compassion
Discard the lethal weapons of jealousy and animosity
Draw everyone into the magic circle of your love'
We came into this Earth
Swimming in the placental river of a mother
Nourished by her love,
Or someone else's care,
We grew big enough
To stand on our own feet
On the stilts of others' support
We stand tall, taller than we are
So see each one as protective armor
A co traveller, a shoulder to lean on
And never an adversary
To be defeated or demolished!
I am deeply touched by this poem of brotherhood and friendship. Reading this poem, I am inspired to expand my 'circle of love'. Thank you Valsa, I am convinced that poems can be very motivating to make us better human beings. Your poem reached out to me to make my day today. 'So see each one as protective armor A co traveller, a shoulder to lean on And never an adversary To be defeated or demolished! ' - Indeed so, let's try!
Thank you for your beautiful comment. Sorry for the late response! The state of Kerala which is my home state is now affected by the worst floods and most of the people are affected by it. We had no power and internet for the last four days. Now the electricity is reinstated and I could access the internet only today!
An Inspiring write with great message. Fill the life with peace and love. Loved reading it. Thanks for sharing.
Another excellent poem with an outstanding message. Making peace with ourselves makes all the difference.
You are absolutely right. Making peace with oneself makes all the difference! Thank you Savita
Hi, Valsa! Amen to your message—a worthy one, and one like what I reach for. I like “the placental river of a mother”—the image and the liquid sound of it. You’ve had recent cause to think on your mortality—which is good for reflection and ordering priorities. Hoping this finds you well. May love fill and preserve us. -Glen
Thanks a lot Glen for your lovely comment and for being sympathetic to my present mood! It is always nice to have such reflections on life!

I would like to translate this poem
We are one species; all brethren. If we treated everyone the way we treat our loved ones (as we should): what a wonderful world this would be.
Thanks Kelly, for sharing this nice thought. Agreed with you fully.
