We Are Fleeing The Flies Poem by Hebert Logerie

We Are Fleeing The Flies

We are fleeing
The fleas
The crazies
And the gutters
All that is bad
All that disturbs the peace
All that causes war
All that breeds misery
Anything that raises dust
Anything that has bad manners
All that is mean
And all that is pedantic.

Evil exists
But the good remains
The valley of the shadow is very close to here
One has to be brave in order to stay in the country
Carnival exists to calm or to soothe the spirits
This is how they flout the people of the sub-countries
Music is the opium. Alcohol is
The narcotic that they drink on the podium
We are fleeing everything that is bad
And everything that disturbs peace.

We are fleeing
The night
The laws
And the loas
Because the evil is back
The devils are hidden behind
The iron doors and the armored windows
The vultures are patrolling the corners of the valley
The vestiges of corruption are shunned
The schemers who commit acts of treason
The spies and the hired assassins on the streets
And we're fleeing everything that spoils, stinks, rots and kills.
