If I Were A Girl

I wouldn't spend sleepless nights
Going through emotional fights
I keep losing to earn bragging rights
To be of his loveless heart…
I wouldn't afford to be the last girl
In his heart for love
Yet the first girl
In his mind for making fading love.

I wouldn't waste time
Having psychological conversation
With the mirror
Telling myself my body-my beauty will get me of the future.
I would prioritize education
For the one on the mirror
Knows not of the past, present and future.

I wouldn't dress half naked to kill
My dignity.
I would dress like a dignified maturing woman to kill
Their lust.
I wouldn't give up my virginity
To make him stay.
Their say,
‘' Girls are intellectually weak'' I would turn to dust.

I wouldn't be under the spell
‘'Girls love what they hear''.
I wouldn't be under peer pressure ‘n believe,
That ‘' the more he nags you, the truest his love''.
I would live to believe
That are indeed not the same…
Before making love.
But just the same…
After making love.
