THE SUNLIGHT glitters keen and bright,
Where, miles away,
Lies stretching to my dazzled sight
A luminous belt, a misty light,

FOR the fairest maid in Hampton
They needed not to search,
Who saw young Anna favor
Come walking into church,--

I would not sin, in this half-playful strain,--
Too light perhaps for serious years, though born
