Majestic Bear, God Of The Forest

Majestic Bear, God of the Forrest
King of creature and man
His solid head upon ruffled neck
Known by everyone in the land.

Yet he is nothing more than an oak tree
Rotted in earth and hard sand
Looked up at in honour by passers
He looks down and cares where they stand.

For he is the heart of the forest
The point from which everything grew
The forest has grown up with him
From his sibling to saplings, new.

The men followed paths his roots had carved
Under his branches they would pitch
Every year he would dropp his harvest
For them to eat, prosper and be rich.

But the young men betrayed his great trust
They chopped him and burned him for light
Out of the fire his head protruded
From a pile of ash, pure white.

Amongst the glowing intercity junctions
His leather ears were torn
His eyes and nose were so black and charred
His head now resembled a boar.

The men had warmth, just that one night
But perished in the winters frore snow
His stump was mourned by no one
The forest never did grow.

Majestic Bear, is now but a boar,
God of the Forest, the forest is no more.
