I blow a gentle kiss goodbye to autumn
My eyes grateful for the feast it has fed me
The warm tones of golden hues and russet reds
Vibrant shades of orange and burnish browns
...
You don't notice that first tiny spec of black that arrives in your mind
Undetected it multiplies, silently slaying all light as you struggle to comprehend
The feelings of sickness that awake you early morning, robbing the body of nourishment, the sudden tsunami of tears and this feeling that something is not right
...
Goodbye Autumn
I blow a gentle kiss goodbye to autumn
My eyes grateful for the feast it has fed me
The warm tones of golden hues and russet reds
Vibrant shades of orange and burnish browns
No more crisp leaves will I hear crunch beneath my feet,
No more brown conquers in damp blades of grass shall I find
Only wet sticky leaves that clog gutters and gurgling drains
Languish behind
Autumn's dazzling daylight and it's warmth are no more
Skies that once were blue, now are heavy with grey
Naked landscapes with naked trees, are a parting gift
Autumn packs her suitcase and takes her leave.
